7 Gift Wrapping Tips and Ideas -Minus the Headache

Gift wrapping tips

Wrapping your gifts and not ending up with that home-made, amateurish look is not as easy as you may think. Here are a few tips and ideas to help you ace it every single time.

1. Get the basics right

For the most graphic punch, choose a couple of affordable solids and a few prints. It really does make a difference. Make sure you always have white and brown craft paper on hand. It works well for year-round gift giving. You can buy a lot of this paper for very little, plus almost anything coordinates with them.

2. Choose coordinating embellishments

We have a wide range of embellishments in our gift packaging stock. Always have some ribbon in various colours, Christmas and birthday embellishments and tags, and you will never go wrong.

3. Texture is everything!

Don’t be afraid of layering your gift wrap. Have you ever been to a friend’s house or flipped through a magazine and stared at their beautifully wrapped gifts and even wondered how they thought of that? It’s actually a lot like design…it’s all in the details.

Layers create character and texture, and can make even the simplest wrapped gifts seem extra special. Layer different patterns over solids. You can even layer your ribbons too.

4. Stock up on ribbon

Ribbon can be one of the most expensive bits for gift packaging to get. When you find one that you really like at a good price, don’t hesitate -go for it!

Invest in some linen ribbon or neutral hessian

There are so many options and varieties to choose from…browse our range and make your choice. Ribbon and hessian coordinate easily with any paper. Stop by and browse our own selection. You won’t regret it. You don’t even need fancy skills, just a classic tied bow and pretty tag will take your gifts a long way.

5. Search for unique gift bags

A nice trick would be to wrap your gifts in basic Kraft paper and then slip it into a unique gift bag. That gives it more personality, and is really simple. If you’re pressed for time you can even forgo the wrapping part. Your gift will still be just as special.

6. Layer gift packaging on bigger gifts

Wrapping bigger gifts in a creative way can be a mission and a half. Layering may be your answer. And you get to use up your left over bits of gift wrap.
